I am a true Louisville native. I was born in the West-end, raised in the South-end, and live in the East-end of Louisville. Oldest of five siblings and raised in a multigenerational household, I was born at 17th and Dumesnil Street. The same street where generations before, my great-grandfather owned a grocery store, Liston’s Grocery. My grandfather, Earl Madden, worked at L&N and later Naval Ordinance raising seven children on a meager salary and a lot of love. My father, Dr. John Draus, was a general and vascular surgeon in a solo rural practice that provided excellent medical care despite, at times, his patient’s poverty and inability to pay.
